Top Gun Large Car Shootout Rocks Rantoul

It's that time of year again folks, when we congregate on the tarmac in Rantoul, Illinois at the Rantoul National Aviation Center

A huge amount of parking space allows for plenty of room between rigs to walk around and makes it a perfect spot to get fantastic, uncrowded pictures of show trucks.  150 participants entered last year's show, and more are expected to show up the last weekend of July this year.

Free admission for spectators gains entry to a full two day schedule of family fun and some of the best looking working class trucks the Midwest has to offer. Festivities kick off Friday night with a parade of lights for all registered trucks at dusk.  A car, rat rod and pick up truck show begins Saturday morning at 9am, with awards at 3pm. And what show is complete without a kiddie pedal tractor pull?  The babies will be battling it out Saturday at 1pm, for swag and bragging rights. Tornado burnouts from I-65 Chrome Shop, a beer garden, and food vendors round out the Saturday scene, which will be capped off at 8pm with Nickle and Dime Band center stage.

Truck show awards will be handed out Sunday, July 30th at 9:30 am.  All working class trucks are welcome.  No pre-registration is necessary, and there are literally acres and acres of open space available for parking, even if you choose not to enter the show.

This is absolutely one of the best truck shows of the season.  If you like the Guilty By Association Show in Joplin, you'll love this one.  It's not quite as big as Joplin, but Tom and Davita do a fantastic job of making everyone feel welcome, relaxed and at home for the two days you spend with them.  They're great hosts, they have a great band - Nickle and Dimes can satisfy pretty much any music taste - and they have a great venue.
